Post by Michael HeydekampWe'll be installing the 1.3-beta over the weekend and see if this will work.
We decided not to do that, but to install the "frozen" 1.3-beta instead (as
suggested e.g. by Cor).
Post by Michael HeydekampToday we published the BETA RELEASE of the next major version 1.3 of Roundcube webmail.
[...]
We're keen to hear your feedback about the new RELEASE.
OK, as you were asking for it:
Well, it works at least (which means that you can read and compose e-mails),
but after just 20-30 minutes of using it, I did instantly stumble across the
following glitches/issues/bugs. And I must admit that it's a bit hard to
believe that a) these glitches can make it to a "RELEASE" (even if beta) at
all, and that b) nobody did report them yet. Am I the only one using/testing
this stuff...? Anyway, here we go:
1) Just moving the mouse cursor up and down through the list of messages
makes a "wandering star" appear in the "marked" column which is vertically
moving parallel to the mouse cursor (the arrow below represents the mouse
cursor, but it doesnt matter in which column the mouse cursor is placed):
II have no clue what the purpose of this "wandering star" is, but I don't
think it's deliberate.
2) The HTML editor is all of a sudden lacking of the faclity to create
(numbered or unnumbered) lists. This is what I'm seeing in 1.3 beta release:
And this is what I'm seeing in 1.2.3 stable release:
The two items in the red rectangle are missing in 1.3. Therefore, I'm not
using a list in this message (which I would have done normally).
3) In 1.3 beta release, I'm not able to subscribe/unsubscribe any folders
anymore, as the appropriate checkboxes are simply not displayed.
Interestingly, this does apply to my company account only, while it's
working with my private account. See the following comparison (I did of
course hide the names of my customers):
I can move the splitter of the case in the middle as far to the right as I
can, the checkboxes still refuse to show up. My impression is that Roundcube
is trying to automatically widen the column according to the length of the
folder names - probably some sort of miscalculation here...?
4) In the changelog [1] of 1.3, I did find this: _"Added Search button in
quick search menus (#5312 [2])"_
I'm not seeing any such added search button - where would I have to look for
it...?
5) We have a problem with monospaced fonts, but this I'll report in detail
in a later message.
Given these problems with 1.3 after just a short time of usage, we might be
going back to 1.2.3 altogether (i.e. even in our beta installation) and stop
testing/reporting. I could live very well with those glitches for a short
time till they've been fixed, but then we would have to install 1.3-git
again to be able to benefit from any possible fixes. But as we've been told
that the git version may not work at all from time to time, this is not an
option anymore.
Cheers,
